Volunteer Opportunities

Supporting With Compassion

Direct Patient and Family Support:

  • Peer to Peer Support: Provide emotional support to stage IV cancer patients through shared lived experiences. User your personal experience with a stage IV cancer diagnosis to connect, helping to eliminate the feelings of isolation a diagnosis can create.

  • Patient Companions: Provide companionship and emotional support to patients by visiting them in their homes, hospitals, or treatment centers. Engage in conversation, play games, or simply offer a listening ear.

  • Respite Caregivers: Allow family caregivers some much-needed time away by providing temporary assistance with errands, housekeeping, or childcare.

  • Transportation Assistance: Assist patients with transportation to and from appointments or treatments, ensuring they can access essential medical care.

Support Services and Administration:

  • Administrative Support: Assist with clerical tasks, data entry, or answering phones, freeing up staff time for direct patient support.

  • Event Planning and Fundraising: Help organize fundraising events, grant applications, or awareness campaigns to secure funding for Guided Path's programs.

  • Website and Social Media Management: Contribute to maintaining the website and social media presence, raising awareness about Guided Path's services and resources.

  • Board Member: Help lead by actively providing oversight, accountability, and high-level strategy for the organization (may require certain qualifications). 

Special Skills and Expertise:

  • Stage IV Cancer Support Group Facilitator: Offer trained professional emotional support, practical guidance, social connection and empowerment to patients and families dealing with a stage IV cancer diagnosis in a group setting or virtual meeting.

  • Art Therapists or Music Therapists: Offer creative therapy sessions for patients and families to express themselves and find emotional release.

  • Complementary Therapists: Provide licensed massage therapy, reiki, or other complementary therapies to promote relaxation and well-being for patients (depending on regulations and facility permissions).

  • Bereavement Support Volunteers: Offer support and understanding to families grieving the loss of a loved one after their death.

Professional Services Support:

  • Legal Assistance: Provide licensed legal assistance with end-of-life preparations, such as; wills, powers of attorney, advanced directives, trusts and more).

  • Property Care Support: Donate licensed staff and time to assist with general upkeep of a patient’s home (lawncare services, electrical services, plumbing services, heating and air services, house-cleaning services, carpentry services, etc.).
