The Art of Healing
Presents: Irene Ledesma Lawrence
Artist Bio
Irene is a multimedia artist working in acrylics, watercolor, oils, weaving, and photography, with many of her paintings inspired by her own photographs. Her creative journey has been shaped by extensive travel to 20 countries across five continents, where she developed a deep appreciation for diverse art forms.

During her travels, she discovered a passion for batik, the traditional Indonesian wax-resist fabric art dating back to the 6th century. Irene now creates batik pieces on both fabric and paper, producing wearable art as well as decorative wall designs. She finds the process both stimulating and deeply rewarding, and hopes her work brings joy and inspiration to those who experience it.

A personal message from Irene to The Art of Healing attendees:
"I don't believe anyone is immune. Someone you know, or someone close, may have had cancer In my personal life I have seen a friend of my, then five year old, child lose the battle to bone cancer; my sister-in-law and my sister both battled and won their breast cancer battles. I have friends who have had testicular cancer and survived, and so many others I cannot list. What I am trying to say is you are not alone.
So why am I participating?

I am doing this art so that you know I am thinking of all who fight against this terrible disease. I hope you take a piece of my art and know I celebrate you! When I was working on this project I thought good thoughts. Peace, Happiness, Unity, Joy, Strength, Courage, and always Hope and Love. When looking at your art piece I hope you can hold onto one of these positive thoughts as your own. Claim it and hold onto it and share it with others who need to hear what it means to you. You are my hero. You can do this!"
