Meet The Artists
Bios and stories of the artists participating in the Art of Healing event.

Tina Brasington
Tina Brasington’s lifelong love of art began in childhood when her sister encouraged her first sketches with a simple gift of pencils and a sketchpad. That spark grew into a lifelong passion for oil painting, photography, and later watercolor and pyrography. Tina’s career journey led her through roles as an art director, graphic designer, and teacher, but retirement brought her back to her artistic roots, where creativity remains both a joy and a way to give back to others.

Tina’s connection to cancer is deeply personal. She lost her father to lung cancer in 2007 and her sister to breast cancer this year—while also becoming a breast cancer survivor herself. For The Art of Healing, she has created a pyrography hat titled Cura (Portuguese for “healing”), which she is donating to the silent auction. Her hope is that the piece will resonate with survivors, caregivers, or anyone touched by cancer, carrying forward a message of resilience, remembrance, and love
Michelle Mahre
Michelle Mahre is a yoga teacher, sound healer, and personal trainer dedicated to helping others find balance and strength in mind, body, and spirit. She is also a creative jewelry maker, nature enthusiast, and proud breast cancer thriver. As a mom and wife, she brings compassion and authenticity into all that she does. When she’s not guiding others through movement and healing practices, you can find her hiking, camping, or homesteading with her husband and 2 dogs. Her journey and resilience continue to inspire others to embrace wellness, joy, and the beauty of everyday life.

Lynda Lawson
Lynda Lawson has always held a deep appreciation for the arts, though she didn’t discover her own talent for painting until 2021. Entirely self-taught, with no formal training, her journey began when she painted a lighthouse on a large flat rock and wondered, “Could I do this on canvas?” She bought her first canvas, entered her first art contest since grade school, and to her delight, won second place.

Since then, painting has become a passion and source of joy. Lynda embraces challenges and finds inspiration in birds, wildlife, and seascapes. For her, painting is both a creative outlet and a way to relax—an expression of beauty and peace that continues to bring fulfillment to her life.

Kris Banas
Kris Banas has always had a creative spirit, from her childhood love of drawing and painting to her early craft business, Kristi’s Kreations, in Northwest Indiana. After careers in accounting and cosmetics—where she used her eye for color and creativity—she retired in 2019 and discovered her true passion for fluid art.

Since then, Kris has devoted herself to developing her techniques and exploring new ways to express movement and color. For her, creativity never retires—it continues to inspire, grow, and bring joy through art.
A heartfelt 'Thank You' goes out to all of the artists who have provided artwork for the event.
